Mission trip to Mexico

Encuentro 2000..One of the best experiances of my life.
We were in a small Nazarene church just outside on Monterrey in a town called Saltillo, Mexico.
It was life changing, and it put the desire in my heart to spread the word of God for the rest of my life.

a picture taken from the bus window..yeah I know, kind of blurry..but I like it's effect.

I can remember crossing the boarder and smelling the raw smell in the air. We were told by the pastor of the church we were at that most of the houses didn't have indoor plumbing, therefore the people would use the bathroom in a hole dug in the ground.

When we stepped off the bus, children were playing in streets like this.

Rusty nails, wire,  pieces of glass, beer cans..most of the kids were barefoot.

After seeing the condition these people live in, I hardly complain.

These are their houses. They have nothing, but their spirits are amazing. Some of them are searching still, while others have found peace. I loved being a part of this transformation.

He was the happiest little boy I have ever met.

That's his house back there, and his mom. His dad died of a desease..if I can remember right..and they only had one roof, the other rooms were exposed.

Luke 18:16 - But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Those people, that place..I miss it. I felt so close to God. I saw the hunger for something in them, and I knew what it was..to actually feel alive. I encourage you to go on a mission trip..you are never too young nor too old to spread the word of God.
